review: almost single by advaita kala

Bridget Jones has her diary, Carrie Bradshaw has her newspaper column, but what does Aisha Bhatia have? That’s the question I kept asking myself has I read Almost Single. Previous reviews have compared this book to those two and it’s obvious Almost Single really wants to be like those two books. But it's not working for me. The characters need far more development if I'm supposed to care. There are far too many characters in this book revolving around a group of Indian girls pursuing husbands. I couldn’t keep track of the couples, the potential couples, the parents, the people in Aisha’s workplace… If a book is going to have this many characters, they need to have better developed personalities to distinguish them.
2/5
