Although an enjoyable read, A Single Breath was highly predictable—I’d figured out every “twist” long before it was revealed. The prose is beautiful though especially as Lucy Clarke describes the fictional town where Saul makes his home. And Eva made for a sympathetic, relatable protagonist with a really great best friend.

review: a single breath by lucy clarke
Only a few months after their marriage, Eva’s husband is presumed drowned after going fishing one morning. Having never met Jackson’s family, Eva leaves England for Tasmania where she learns Jackson told her numerous lies. Everything she thought she knew about her husband’s past is actually the story of his brother Saul. Eva can’t help but wonder who she really fell in love with and ends up bonding with Saul as he helps her through her anger and grief.
